'Black Cabinet' from 1932, helps explain how FDR switched the U.S.'s political parties. By appointing black cabinet member, the President captured the trust and faith of African Americans. Even without creating huge civil rights actions, he showed his support of a group that was formerly excluded from politics. By gaining African Americans' support, he shifted most of their votes from primarily democratic to much more republican.
